Valentin Rothberg 1f1525f2e1 support `--digestfile` for remote push
Wire in support for writing the digest of the pushed image to a
user-specified file. Requires some massaging of _internal_ APIs
and the extension of the push endpoint to integrate the raw manifest
(i.e., in bytes) in the stream.

Miloslav Trmač 069edc3adf Add (podman {image, manifest} push --sign-by-sigstore=param-file.yaml)
(podman push) and (podman manifest push) now support --sign-by-sigstore=param-file,
using the containers-sigstore-signing-params.yaml(5) file format.

That notably adds support for Fulcio and Rekor signing.

Merge pull request #15108 from mtrmac/sigstore-sign
Sigstore sign
2022-08-01 13:35:43 +02:00
Miloslav Trmač d462da676c Add support for creating sigstore signatures, and providing passphrases
- Allow creating sigstore signatures via --sign-by-sigstore-private-key .
Like existing --sign-by, it does not work remote (in this case
because we would have to copy the private key to the server).
- Allow passing a passphrase (which is mandatory for sigstore private keys)
via --sign-passphrase-file; if it is not provided, prompt interactively.
- Also, use that passphrase for --sign-by as well, allowing non-interactive
GPG use. (But --sign-passphrase-file can only be used with _one of_
  --sign-by and --sign-by-sigstore-private-key.)

Note that unlike the existing code, (podman build) does not yet
implement sigstore (I'm not sure why it needs to, it seems not to
push images?) because Buildah does not expose the feature yet.

Also, (podman image sign) was not extended to support sigstore.

The test for this follows existing (podman image sign) tests
and doesn't work rootless; that could be improved by exposing
a registries.d override option.

The test for push is getting large; I didn't want to
start yet another registry container, but that would be an
alternative. In the future, Ginkgo's Ordered/BeforeAll
would allow starting a registry once and using it for two
tests.

This commit cleans up two issues:
* Most commands support all EngineModes so default to that. Let
  outlayers declare their intent.
* Use cobra.Annotations to set supported EngineMode. This simplies
instantiating commands as there is now one method to communicate a
  commands requirements rather than two.
* Combined aliased commands into one file
* Fixed aliased commands where Args field did not match
* Updated examples in README.md for writing commands
* Remove redundant flag DisableFlagsInUseLine in cobra.Command

Valentin Rothberg 0f7d54b026 migrate Podman to containers/common/libimage
Migrate the Podman code base over to `common/libimage` which replaces
`libpod/image` and a lot of glue code entirely.

Note that I tried to leave bread crumbs for changed tests.

Miscellaneous changes:

 * Some errors yield different messages which required to alter some
   tests.

 * I fixed some pre-existing issues in the code. Others were marked as
`//TODO`s to prevent the PR from exploding.

 * The `NamesHistory` of an image is returned as is from the storage.
Previously, we did some filtering which I think is undesirable.
Instead we should return the data as stored in the storage.

 * Touched handlers use the ABI interfaces where possible.

 * Local image resolution: previously Podman would match "foo" on
"myfoo". This behaviour has been changed and Podman will now
only match on repository boundaries such that "foo" would match
"my/foo" but not "myfoo". I consider the old behaviour to be a
bug, at the very least an exotic corner case.

 * Futhermore, "foo:none" does *not* resolve to a local image "foo"
without tag anymore. It's a hill I am (almost) willing to die on.

 * `image prune` prints the IDs of pruned images. Previously, in some
cases, the names were printed instead. The API clearly states ID,
so we should stick to it.

 * Compat endpoint image removal with _force_ deletes the entire not
   only the specified tag.

Fix --arch and --os flags to work correctly
Currently podman implements --override-arch and --overide-os
But Podman has made these aliases for --arch and --os. No
reason to have to specify --override, since it is clear what
the user intends.

Currently if the user specifies an --override-arch field but the
image was previously pulled for a different Arch, podman run uses
the different arch. This PR also fixes this issue.

Allow podman push to push manifest lists
When doing a podman images, manifests lists look just like images, so
it is logical that users would assume that they can just podman push them
to a registry. The problem is we throw out weird errors when this happens
and users need to somehow figure out this is a manifest list rather then
an image, and frankly the user will not understand the difference.

This PR will make podman push just do the right thing, by failing over and
attempting to push the manifest if it fails to push the image.

Fix up handling of manifest push

Protocol should bring back a digest string, which can either be
printed or stored in a file.

We should not reimplement the manifest push setup code in the tunnel
code but take advantage of the api path, to make sure remote and local
work the same way.

Paul Holzinger 2870a0b0a6 Add system test for shell completion
There exists a unit test to ensure that shell completion functions are
defined. However there was no check about the quality of the provided
shell completions. Lets change that.

The idea is to create a general test that makes sure we are suggesting
containers,pods,images... for the correct commands. This works by
reading the command use line and checking for each arg if we provide
the correct suggestions for this arg.

It includes the following tests:
- flag suggestions if [options] is set
- container, pod, image, network, volume, registry completion
- path completion for the appropriate arg KEYWORDS (`PATH`,`CONTEXT`,etc.)
- no completion if there are no args
- completion for more than one arg if it ends with `...]`

The test does not cover completion values for flags and not every arg KEYWORD
is supported. This is still a huge improvement and covers most use cases.

This test spotted several inconsistencies between the completion and the
command use line. All of them have been adjusted to make the test pass.

The biggest advantage is that the completions always match the latest
command changes. So if someone changes the arguments for a command this
ensures that the completions must be adjusted.

Paul Holzinger b5d1d89a37 Add shell completion with cobra
Allow automatic generation for shell completion scripts
with the internal cobra functions (requires v1.0.0+).

This should replace the handwritten completion scripts
and even adds support for fish. With this approach it is
less likley that completions and code are out of sync.

We can now create the scripts with
- podman completion bash
- podman completion zsh
- podman completion fish

To test the completion run:
source <(podman completion bash)

The same works for podman-remote and podman --remote and
it will complete your remote containers/images with
the correct endpoints values from --url/--connection.

The completion logic is written in go and provided by the
cobra library. The completion functions lives in
`cmd/podman/completion/completion.go`.

The unit test at cmd/podman/shell_completion_test.go checks
if each command and flag has an autocompletion function set.
This prevents that commands and flags have no shell completion set.

This commit does not replace the current autocompletion scripts.

Extend flags of `manifest add`
Extend the flags of `podman manifest add` to include also:

  * cert-dir
  * auth-file
  * creds
  * tls-verify

These options are useful when adding to a manifest an image that is not
part of the local image store. The image resides on a remote registry
that falls into one of these cases: it's not using tls termination, it requires
authentication or it's secured with an unknown tls certificate.

Consider the following scenario: a multi architecture manifest is created as
part of a multi-step CI pipeline running in a containerized way.
All the images referenced by the manifest live inside of a registry
secured with a self-signed tls certificate.

Without this patch the manifest creation step would have to pull all the
multi-architecture images locally via `podman pull`.

With this patch the usage of `podman pull` would not be needed because the
images' digests can be requested straight to the registry. That means the
execution of manifest creation step would be faster and result in less disk
space and network bandwidth being used.

Finally, this is a propagation of a similar fix done inside of buildah
via https://github.com/containers/buildah/pull/2593

Ed Santiago c6090c290e Docs: consistency between man / --help
New functionality in hack/man-page-checker: start cross-
referencing the man page 'Synopsis' line against the
output of 'podman foo --help'. This is part 1, flag/option
consistency. Part 2 (arg consistency) is too big and will
have to wait for later.

flag/option consistency means: if 'podman foo --help'
includes the string '[flags]' in the Usage message,
make sure the man page includes '[*options*]' in its
Synopsis line, and vice-versa. This found several
inconsistencies, which I've fixed.

While doing this I realized that Cobra automatically
includes a 'Flags:' subsection in its --help output
for all subcommands that have defined flags. This
is great - it lets us cross-check against the
usage synopsis, and make sure that '[flags]' is
present or absent as needed, without fear of
human screwups. If a flag-less subcommand ever
gets extended with flags, but the developer forgets
to add '[flags]' and remove DisableFlagsInUseLine,
we now have a test that will catch that. (This,
too, caught two instances which I fixed).

I don't actually know if the new man-page-checker
functionality will work in CI: I vaguely recall that
it might run before 'make podman' does; and also
vaguely recall that some steps were taken to remedy
that.

Ed Santiago 6864a5547a BATS tests: new too-many-arguments test
...plus a few others. And fixes to actual parsing.

If a command's usage message includes '...' in the
argument list, assume it can take unlimited arguments.
Nothing we can check.

For all others, though, the ALL-CAPS part on the
right-hand side of the usage message will define
an upper bound on the number of arguments accepted
by the command. So in our 'podman --help' test,
generate N+1 args and run that command. We expect
a 125 exit status and a suitably helpful error message.

Not all podman commands or subcommands were checking,
so I fixed that. And, fixed some broken usage messages
(all-caps FLAGS, and '[flags]' at the end of 'ARGS').
Add new checks to the help test to prevent those in
the future.

Plus a little refactoring/cleanup where necessary.

Valentin Rothberg dc80267b59 compat handlers: add X-Registry-Auth header support
* Support the `X-Registry-Auth` http-request header.

 * The content of the header is a base64 encoded JSON payload which can
either be a single auth config or a map of auth configs (user+pw or
token) with the corresponding registries being the keys. Vanilla
Docker, projectatomic Docker and the bindings are transparantly
   supported.

 * Add a hidden `--registries-conf` flag. Buildah exposes the same
   flag, mostly for testing purposes.

 * Do all credential parsing in the client (i.e., `cmd/podman`) pass
the username and password in the backend instead of unparsed
   credentials.

 * Add a `pkg/auth` which handles most of the heavy lifting.

 * Go through the authentication-handling code of most commands, bindings
and endpoints. Migrate them to the new code and fix issues as seen.
A final evaluation and more tests is still required *after* this
   change.

 * The manifest-push endpoint is missing certain parameters and should
use the ABI function instead. Adding auth-support isn't really
   possible without these parts working.

 * The container commands and endpoints (i.e., create and run) have not
been changed yet. The APIs don't yet account for the authfile.

 * Add authentication tests to `pkg/bindings`.
