Ed Santiago c03b6b54fd Semiperiodic cleanup of obsolete Skip()s
Found by my find-obsolete-skips script. Let's see which, if any,
of these skipped tests can be reenabled.

Some Skips are "this will never work", not "this is expected to
work one day". Update the message on those to reflect that.

Some were real bugs in the test framework. Fix those.

And, joy of joys, some work today. Remove those skips.

test: run --cgroups=split in new cgroup
the --cgroups=split test changes the current cgroup as it creates a
sub-cgroup. This can cause a race condition in tests that are reading

Alex Jia 745f6d949c e2e tests: fix overlay: Unknown option vfs.imagestore
Fixes: https://github.com/containers/podman/issues/11201

The STORAGE_FS is hard code in test/e2e/config_amd64.go, it will
hit error like this "overlay: Unknown option vfs.imagestore" when
setting STORAGE_OPTIONS="--storage-driver overlay". With this patch,
the STORAGE_FS is exported as environment variable, if STORAGE_FS is set,
then set storageOptions to --storage-driver $STORAGE_FS.

Skip stats test in CGv1 container environments
These tests were originally enabled in a situation where CI provided
false-positive results. Now that has been corrected, these tests all
fail under a CGv1 container environment with the error:

```
Error: unable to load cgroup at
/machine.slice/libpod-e4f...086.scope/libpod_parent/libpod-fbd...425:
cgroup deleted
```

This commit simply disables the tests under this specific environment.

Ed Santiago 5952270950 e2e tests: prevent 'Expect(ExitCode())' pattern
Followup to #10932: add a validation check to prevent introduction
of new 'Expect(foo.ExitCode()).To(...)' patterns. If such use is
absolutely necessary -- there is one such instance in the code
already -- require that the assertion include a description.

Also: clean up instances that were introduced since the merging
of #10932.

Also: fix one remaining instance in run_exit_test.go: it had
a FIXME comment mentioning a race condition, but unfortunately
there was no issue or bug ID, hence no way to know if the race
is fixed or not. We will assume it is.

Ed Santiago 547fff2703 e2e tests: use Should(Exit()) and ExitWithError()
e2e test failures are rife with messages like:

   Expected 1 to equal 0

These make me cry. They're anti-helpful, requiring the reader
to dive into the source code to figure out what those numbers
mean.

Solution: Go tests have a '.Should(Exit(NNN))' mechanism. I
don't know if it spits out a better diagnostic (I have no way
to run e2e tests on my laptop), but I have to fantasize that
it will, and given the state of our flakes I assume that at
least one test will fail and give me the opportunity to see
what the error message looks like.

THIS IS NOT REVIEWABLE CODE. There is no way for a human
to review it. Don't bother. Maybe look at a few random
ones for sanity. If you want to really review, here is
a reproducer of what I did:

   cd test/e2e
   ! positive assertions. The second is the same as the first,
   ! with the addition of (unnecessary) parentheses because
   ! some invocations were written that way. The third is BeZero().
   perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.To\(Equal\((\d+)\)\)/Expect($1).Should(Exit($2))/' *_test.go
   perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.To\(\(Equal\((\d+)\)\)\)/Expect($1).Should(Exit($2))/' *_test.go
   perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.To\(BeZero\(\)\)/Expect($1).Should(Exit(0))/' *_test.go

   ! Same as above, but handles three non-numeric exit codes
   ! in run_exit_test.go
   perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.To\(Equal\((\S+)\)\)/Expect($1).Should(Exit($2))/' *_test.go

   ! negative assertions. Difference is the spelling of 'To(Not)',
   ! 'ToNot', and 'NotTo'. I assume those are all the same.
   perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.To\(Not\(Equal\((0)\)\)\)/Expect($1).To(ExitWithError())/' *_test.go
   perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.ToNot\(Equal\((0)\)\)/Expect($1).To(ExitWithError())/' *_test.go
   perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.NotTo\(Equal\((0)\)\)/Expect($1).To(ExitWithError())/' *_test.go
   ! negative, old use of BeZero()
   perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.ToNot\(BeZero\(\)\)/Expect($1).Should(ExitWithError())/' *_test.go

Run those on a clean copy of main branch (at the same branch
point as my PR, of course), then diff against a checked-out
copy of my PR. There should be no differences. Then all you
have to review is that my replacements above are sane.

UPDATE: nope, that's not enough, you also need to add gomega/gexec
to the files that don't have it:

   perl -pi -e '$_ .= "$1/gexec\"\n" if m!^(.*/onsi/gomega)"!' $(grep -L gomega/gexec $(git log -1 --stat | awk '$1 ~ /test\/e2e\// { print $1}'))

UPDATE 2: hand-edit run_volume_test.go

UPDATE 3: sigh, add WaitWithDefaultTimeout() to a couple of places

UPDATE 4: skip a test due to bug #10935 (race condition)

Fix race condition in running ls container in a pod
All of the tests has an assumption that RunLsContainer and RunLsContainerInPod completes
the container before returning. But since the container is running

attempt to remove it. Removing the "-d" from the command fixes the
container to match the assumption.

Ed Santiago 95a50a936a CI: run rootless tests under ubuntu
Reason: to catch errors before they surface in RHEL.

One of the Ubuntus is specially crafted to run with cgroups v1
and runc. Although this isn't quite the same as RHEL, it's as
close as we can come in our CI environment, and I suspect it
would have caught #10234 (a regression).

Sorry, team.

Also: play kube limits test: skip on all rootless, not just
rootless+fedora. There was a complicated and unnecessary
check in there for Fedora.

Also: workaround for bug #10248, a spurious error message on
the first invocation of rootless podman on Ubuntu.Old

Valentin Rothberg 0f7d54b026 migrate Podman to containers/common/libimage
Migrate the Podman code base over to `common/libimage` which replaces
`libpod/image` and a lot of glue code entirely.

Note that I tried to leave bread crumbs for changed tests.

Miscellaneous changes:

 * Some errors yield different messages which required to alter some
   tests.

 * I fixed some pre-existing issues in the code. Others were marked as
   `//TODO`s to prevent the PR from exploding.

 * The `NamesHistory` of an image is returned as is from the storage.
   Previously, we did some filtering which I think is undesirable.
   Instead we should return the data as stored in the storage.

 * Touched handlers use the ABI interfaces where possible.

 * Local image resolution: previously Podman would match "foo" on
   "myfoo". This behaviour has been changed and Podman will now
   only match on repository boundaries such that "foo" would match
   "my/foo" but not "myfoo". I consider the old behaviour to be a
   bug, at the very least an exotic corner case.

 * Futhermore, "foo:none" does *not* resolve to a local image "foo"
   without tag anymore. It's a hill I am (almost) willing to die on.

 * `image prune` prints the IDs of pruned images. Previously, in some
   cases, the names were printed instead. The API clearly states ID,
   so we should stick to it.

 * Compat endpoint image removal with _force_ deletes the entire not
   only the specified tag.

Implement podman run/create --secret
Secrets are blobs of data that are sensitive.
Currently, the only secret driver supported is filedriver, which means creating a secret stores it in base64 unencrypted in a file.
After creating a secret, a user can use the --secret flag to expose the secret inside the container at /run/secrets/[secretname]
This secret will not be commited to an image on a podman commit

Add pod, volume, network to inspect package
2020-10-27 17:04:44 -04:00
Ashley Cui 61deec451f Add pod, volume, network to inspect package
podman inspect only had the capabilities to inspect containers and images. if a user wanted to inspect a pod, volume, or network, they would have to use `podman network inspect`, `podman pod inspect` etc. Docker's cli allowed users to inspect both volumes and networks using regular inspect, so this commit gives the user the functionality

If the inspect type is not specified using --type, the order of inspection is:

containers
images
volumes
networks
pods

meaning if container that has the same name as an image, podman inspect would return the container inspect.

To avoid duplicate code, podman network inspect and podman volume inspect now use the inspect package as well. Podman pod inspect does not because podman pod inspect returns a single json object while podman inspect can return multiple)

Move noCache logic lower in stack
One or more tests are not taking advantage of the local image cache.
This has been observed to cause a testing flake in at least one
`--sigproxy` test which uses `PodmanTestIntegration.PodmanPID()`.
It has a rather short timeout of 15-seconds, which isn't always
enough time to pull down a remote image.

Fix this by reloacing the `noCache` logic from
`PodmanTest.PodmanAsUserBase()` down the stack into
`PodmanTestIntegration.makeOptions()`. This also eliminates the need to
also check if a remote-client is being used - since it uses a different
function.

Also reverse the parameter order in `PodmanTest.PodmanBase` so that
everywhere is consistently `noEvents` then `noCache`.

Matthew Heon 1e3e99f2fe Move the HostConfig portion of Inspect inside libpod
When we first began writing Podman, we ran into a major issue
when implementing Inspect. Libpod deliberately does not tie its
internal data structures to Docker, and stores most information
about containers encoded within the OCI spec. However, Podman
must present a CLI compatible with Docker, which means it must
expose all the information in 'docker inspect' - most of which is
not contained in the OCI spec or libpod's Config struct.

Our solution at the time was the create artifact. We JSON'd the
complete CreateConfig (a parsed form of the CLI arguments to
'podman run') and stored it with the container, restoring it when
we needed to run commands that required the extra info.

Over the past month, I've been looking more at Inspect, and
refactored large portions of it into Libpod - generating them
from what we know about the OCI config and libpod's (now much
expanded, versus previously) container configuration. This path
comes close to completing the process, moving the last part of
inspect into libpod and removing the need for the create
artifact.

This improves libpod's compatability with non-Podman containers.
We no longer require an arbitrarily-formatted JSON blob to be
present to run inspect.

Stefan Becker e4cba7d36a create: improve parser for --healthcheck-command
Fix Docker CLI compatibility issue: the "--healthcheck-command" option
value should not be split but instead be passed as single string to
"CMD-SHELL", i.e. "/bin/sh -c <opt>".

On the other hand implement the same extension as is already available
for "--entrypoint", i.e. allow the option value to be a JSON array of
strings. This will make life easier for tools like podman-compose.

Updated "--healthcheck-command" option values in tests accordingly.

Matthew Heon 1322dbc24f Restart failed containers in tests
When we're waiting for a container to come up with healthchecks,
and it's not even running, there's no point to waiting further.
Instead, let's restart the container and continue waiting.

This may fix some flakes we're seeing with 'podman port' tests.
Then again, all the tests there seem to fail, not just a single
test flaking - so I bet there's some other underlying cause.

Brent Baude d87cb1a5f9 fix port -l timing with healthchecks
many of the port tests use our nginx container image. in some cases, we have timing
issues between when the nginx and the container are running and when the port -l
command is run causing test flakes. we now use the container image's built in
healthcheck to ensure that nginx is running (and subsequently the container
itself) before running the port command.
