There is no CI set up for the examples repo, so BUILD files are not
needed. They can be easily regenerated in the future, and it's one less
thing to keep up to date.
"front-end" only applies as an adjective to some thing like "front-end developer" though, "frontend developer" is pretty well accepted. Talking about a front end (noun) means there's no need for a hyphen.
